PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested the main accused in a land fraud case, who deprived hundreds of people of their hard earned money.

On a tip-off, M Mubarrak Shah, owner of MM Qureshi International Private Limited, was arrested soon after his arrival at Lahore Airport from Dubai. His name was already placed on the Exit Control List, according to a NAB statement issued here on Monday.

The accused allegedly cheated public, depriving them of millions of rupees in the garb of Mudariba/ Musharika business.

The statement said that 140 affected people had so far registered their claims to the tune of Rs290 million.

During initial interrogation, said the statement, the accused confessed to all the allegations, saying that he had soled and purchased many precious plots in Peshawar.

The investigation team also unearthed that the accused had opened 14 bank accounts in different banks and had established transport business in Dubai.

The director of the company, Mushahid Ali, is already in the NAB custody, according to the statement.
