LAHORE: In a surprise move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed interim committees in four Regional Cricket Associations (RCAs), one day before the deadline given to the previous committees’ members to resign by March 14 if they want to contest the subsequent elections in their respective regions.

Surprisingly, interim chairman of the Lahore Region Saiyed Aizad has also been replaced with Sardar Saadat Ali Khan despite the fact that case of the said region is already pending before the Lahore High Court (LRC).

It may be mentioned that on Nov 19, 2013 the PCB removed Saiyed Aizad as interim head of the region, but later an official of the Lahore Region Shahid Ghafoor filed a case against the decision.

LRC’s Justice Khalid Mahmood suspended PCB’s decision and restored Aizad’s body, but as the PCB made a delay in complying with the LHC’s order, a contempt of court case was also filed. The next date of hearing is scheduled for March 20.

Meanwhile, the PCB in a press release stated: “In order to ensure smooth functioning of RCAs, the PCB has made amendments in the committees and now the following interim committees will run the affairs of respective RCAs.”

Bahawalpur: chairman Farooq Shera, Members: Farhan Tariq and Mohammad Mazar.

Faisalabad: chairman Shaukat Aftab. Members: Javed Kamal, Hamid Nagra and Naveed Nazir. Rawalpindi: Chairman retired Col Naushad Ali. Members: Nadeem Ahmed Abbasi and Mohsin Ali.

Interim committee of LCCA/LRCA: chairman Sardar Saadat Ali Khan while Mirza Khurshid and Arshad Khan will continue to work as members in Lahore.
