RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Customs on Saturday morning foiled an attempt to smuggle 6.9 kilogrammes of heroin from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Asghar Ali, 30, was going to Athens, Greece, on an Etihad Airline flight when the heroin was detected in his luggage.

When contacted, Collector Customs Imtiaz Ahmed Khan said the value of the drug in the international market was more than Rs75 million.

He said Asghar had been arrested and an FIR registered against him in the Airport police station. “Efforts are also being made to identify the cartel involved in the drug smuggling,” he said.
