QUETTA: Eight people, among them three children, were killed when a car collided head-on with a bus on the Quetta-Chaman highway near Saranan area of Pishin district on Sunday.

Sources said those killed were in the car and six of them belonged to the same family.

The car was going from Quetta to Chaman and the bus from Qila Abdullah to Saranan.

Levies personnel cut the mangled wreckage of the car to retrieve the bodies and shifted them to a hospital in Pishin. People on the bus escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses said the cause of the accident was speeding.

Five of those killed were identified as Asmatullah, Hayatullah, Abdul Baran, Hafiz and Fida Mohammad.
