DERA ISAMIL KHAN: A police constable escorting a polio team was killed and his colleague injured when gunmen opened fire on them in a village near here on Tuesday.

According to police, Hawaldar Tanveer and Constable Naseeruddin were returning after performing duty with the polio team in the village of Chamb when they came under fire. Naseeruddin died on the spot while Tanveer suffered injuries.

They were taken to the DHQ hospital here. Tanveer was later taken to a hospital in Multan in critical condition.

EXPLOSION: Three men belonging to the Dotai Pondgan tribe died when mines on a road in Bachaabad village of Loni area exploded accidentally on Monday night.

According to sources, the apparent target were rival Gandapur tribesmen.
