Blast derails train in Rajanpur; three killed

RAJANPUR: A Karachi-bound Khushhal Express travelling from Peshawar was struck by an explosion on the railway tracks near Umerkot in Rajanpur district of Punjab, causing four bogies of the train to derail and killing at least three persons, DawnNews reported.

Emergency and rescue teams rushed to the blast site and the victims were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police sources said that at least three persons had died in the incident whereas 15 others were wounded.

Pakistan Railways General Manager Operations Anjum Pervaiz confirmed that 15 persons were injured after a blast on the tracks which had also caused several bogies of the train to derail.

Moreover, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique sought a report over the incident.
