ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday withdrew the contempt notice issued to the Inspector General of Frontier Corps Maj Gen Ijaz Shahid after he appeared before the bench and said that the kidnapping accusations against the FC were false, DawnNews reported.

A two-member bench of the apex court comprising of Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed the hearing over the Balochistan law and order and missing persons case.

During the hearing Maj Gen Ijaz Shahid told the court that it was a wrong perception that FC was involved in the abduction of missing persons and termed the allegations baseless.

To verify his statement, he apprised the bench about the production of Koh Khan, a missing person who was produced by police from Quetta and not by the FC.

He said the allegation was against six FC personals, which proved to be wrong as Koh Khan was produced by police.

While seeking more time to respond in writing, Maj Gen Shahid said he would submit complete details about the missing persons.

Counsel for IG FC, Barrister Irfan Qadir added that Maj Gen Ijaz Shahid had appeared in the court in compliance with the court's earlier orders and hence the contempt notice issued against his client issued on December 5 should now be withdrawn.

On this, the court directed him to submit a written reply in the court on next date of hearing and adjourned further hearing of the case till January 15.n.
