QUETTA: At least five people, including two women and a child, were injured Tuesday in a hand-grenade attack on a shop in Jannat Bazaar, in restive Balochistan province’s Gwadar district, DawnNews reported.

The wounded persons were shifted to a local hospital.

No group immediately claimed responsibility. But Balochistan has long been the scene of a low-level insurgency which aims to win more autonomy for the province and a greater share of the money derived from its natural resources.

The province has also been under the grip of sectarian violence for the past several years in which scores of people have lost their lives.
