BAHAWALPUR, Oct 19: A couple was murdered under mysterious circumstances in Islamia Colony on the Airport Road here.

Police said Asif, 25, and his wife Kalsoom, 21,were murdered with some sharp-edged weapon.

They had contracted a love marriage sometime back in their hometown Sahiwal and shifted to the Bahawalpur last month.

They had rented the upper storey of the house, owned by one Naeem, who was in Saudi Arabia for Haj.

Asif had a small-time job. On Friday night, Naeem’s wife went upstairs to meet Kalsoom but found the husband and the wife killed there.

Baghdadul Jadid police registered a murder case against unidentified persons and informed the victims’ families in Sahiwal.

Police are waiting for the families of the victims to receive the bodies after conducting autopsy.

They hope to find some clue to resolve the case from the families’ statements and the victims’ mobile phones.
