LAHORE, Sept 11: Two children drowned in a pond in the Kamahan locality of Nishtar Colony on Wednesday, police said.

Victims identified as 11-year-old Umair Mushtaq and 12-year-old Amjad, of Factory Area, disappeared in the deep water of the pond. Locals with the help of rescuers fished out the bodies.

The news of drowning saddened the victims’ families and area people who criticised the city district government for not filling the ponds.

SUICIDE: Two people committed suicides in the city on Wednesday.

Eighteen-year-old Asad allegedly shot himself to death in Baghbanpura area on Wednesday.

Police said Asad was from Muridke and had been staying at his uncle’s house near Pakistan Mint.Islampura police said 28-year-old Suleman shot himself at his home in Khokhar Town.

Police said Suleman, a father of two, ran a hotel in main bazaar Sanda.

Police handed over the body to the family after legal formalities.

RobBERY: Four gunmen barged in the house of Muzaffar Qadir in Township police limits, held family members at gunpoint and took away cash, jewellery and valuables all worth Rs800,000.

Four robbers approached Saeed Mujtaba Ali at his doorstep in Johar Town police remit and deprived him of Rs700,000 and a cell phone.

Two robbers stopped Safdar Shahzad in Islampura police limits and snatched Rs350,000 and his cell phone.
