MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 7: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) prime minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed re-appointed the son of a legislative assembly member who was a signatory of a no-trust resolution against him, as his adviser on Saturday.

Akmal Sargala Advocate, whose father Mohammad Hussain Sargala represents a Kashmiri refugees’ constituency in Narowal (Punjab), was again administered as an adviser at the Kashmir House and would enjoy the status of minister.

The positions of advisers and special assistants to the AJK prime minister were created through an executive order, and advisers are administered the oath by the premier instead of the AJK president.

Mohammad Hussain Sargala had initially contested the elections as an independent candidate before reportedly joining the PML-N.

However, after developing differences with some PML-N legislators, Mr Sargala joined the ruling Peoples Party in January 2013, and his son was then appointed as adviser to the prime minister.

When Mr Sargala submitted the no-trust resolution along with Abdul Majid Khan against the prime minister, his son Akmal Sargala also resigned from the post of adviser the same evening.

However, when six of the eight ministers who had rebelled against the AJK premier were taken back in the cabinet on Thursday, Mr Sargala’s son was also given the same position as adviser in less than 48 hours.

An official said the two remaining former ministers would also be sworn in as cabinet members on Monday.
