THE Pakistan Telecommunications Authority has created further confusion among those who are already paying heavy taxes on mobile usage.
The orders immediately appeared on the web where the statement from the PTA highlighted ‘contrary to moral values of society’.
Such actions are justified during martial law, where decisions are imposed on people but in a democracy this seems to violate the very idea of democratic structure.
There are bigger matters for the PTA to look into, such as the unregistered sims. Unregistered sims are blatantly used by gangsters and extortionists while the PTA seems to have turned a blind corner on the very matter.
Action is required on inappropriate usage of unregistered sims by criminals. Positive measures may be taken to avoid the ire of mobile users.
