The Punjab government has decided to convert ponds and swamps in Rawalpindi district to playgrounds to provide recreational opportunities to the youth, but some believe it is a political move to gain votes in the upcoming local bodies elections.

After receiving reports of shortage of playgrounds in the province, the former provincial government had decided to convert stagnant ponds in the district into playgrounds.
