GHALANAI, July 31: The head of Dawezai Peace Committee was killed in a blast near his house in Dawezai area of tehsil Pandyali in Mohmand Agency on Tuesday night.

Political Naib Tehsildar Irshad Khan said Sahib Khan, chief of the peace committee, was killed in remote controlled blast near his house. The deceased was coming to his home from the nearby fields when the blast took place.

Soon after the incident, Levies and Khasadar forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Sources said that 23 suspected persons were arrested during the operation.

They said that three arrested persons were handed to over to security forces for interrogation while the rest were sent to Ekkaghound lockup.
