Nawaz summons CCI meeting over energy policy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday summoned a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to be held on July 25 over the country's new energy policy, DawnNews reported.
Sources told DawnNews that the new energy policy would be brought up for approval during the meeting.
The Prime Minister is expected to announce the new energy policy after its approval in the CCI meeting.
Sources further said that the new policy would increase the electricity tariff for all sectors including industruial, commercial, bulk supply, and agricultural tube wells.
Household consumers would be exempted from the tariff hike, sources added.

Is increase in tariff a 'new policy'? Or it is decrease and by mistake the reporter typed 'increase'. New policy means a new trend which should be decrease not increase. An increase is no brainer. Anybody can increase without doing much thinking. Then again thinking is lacking.

"Household consumers would be exempted from the tariff hike" - The household customers only just had an increase, Even a slight hint of a further increase would be adding insult to the injury of taxpayers.

Basically, he is afraid to do all rate increase by himself so he wants others to join him. It is a political game, "We did it after due consultation with all stake holders and representatives of all political parties."
There is no new policy unless Mr. Mansha blessed it. Wait and see, if you disagree with me.

The issue this goverment is trying to address is energy shortage and this will result in tariff increase. We as a nation have to think if we want to go for monetary gains or do we want to address the energy crisis.
The good thing is that there will be no increase in tariff for household consumer. Although the increase for industrial and other areas will result in higher inflation.

I beg to disagree. Thinking is not lacking, intelligence is. Let us admit, our Prime Minister is no Einstein (compare him to Manmohan Singh who did his Phd from Oxford, Obama went to Harvard, Jinnah went to Trinity College Oxford).
