THIS is with reference to the news ‘Books and pens are our main weapons, says Malala’ (July 13).
Without education, life seems incomplete because education is essential for every human being.
As Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “It is obligatory for every man and woman to gain education.”
Sadly, in Pakistan only 54pc of the people have access to education.
Malala’s struggle alone cannot bring about changes in the field of education in the country. The authorities concerned must ensure a good systematic education structure that leads the state to advancement.

I think it requires a hell of a lot more than purely quoting the Prophet.
It needs the conviction and commitment of the people from street level to the President of the country to bring about the required changes in action and mindset. And the education should not be just Islamic education but encompassing all worldly, scientific, technical, social, economical matters and subjects.
