No more privileges for PIA board members

KARACHI, July 11: The board of directors of PIA announced on Thursday abolishing with immediate effect the privileges enjoyed by its present and former members.

This was decided by the board at a meeting presided over by PIA chairman and CEO Aslam Khaliq and attended by managing director Junaid Yunus, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Aviation Shujaat Azeem and board members Mian Mansha, Arif Habib, Naseer Jafer, Nazir Ahmed, Yousaf Waqar, Mohammad Ali Gardezi, Dr Waqar Masood and Sarfraz A. Rehman.

Mr Khaliq said he would serve the PIA without taking any emoluments. Besides, the board proposed abolishing free travel facility, both domestic and international, currently available to its members.

Thats good step .................. Kindly abolish the privileges given to Journalists too, Because it has been noticed that media glow fire against PIA. even at times on the word of mouth they form proper news propaganda. but still PIA is giving Journalist discount........... dont know the reason of this act. Daily 100's of tickets are issued with 50% discount by the journalists who have registered a news paper with fake figures of newpaper selling per day. Thousands of newspapers are registered on APNS and PID sites and PIA gives discount to all of them and they bite back PIA.

Chairman and the board has led by a great example - Congartulations to them! Piolts union and other unions should also voluntarily give up some of their previlages too and more than that help the new board to eradicate corruption in all forms. Last chance for the airline to survive!!!
