KARACHI, Sept 23: Two suspected abductors were killed in a police raid that led to the recovery of a hostage in Quaidabad on Sunday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a hideout in Sherpao Colony within the remit of the Quaidabad police station. Seeing the law-enforcers, suspects present inside opened fire and the police retaliated.  Two men were killed and a police constable, Mohammad Hussain, was shot.

The police said that a missing man, identified as Mohammad Khan, was also recovered. He was kidnapped on Sept --17 in the Shorab Goth area.

The identification of the two suspects could not be made till late in the night.

The bodies were placed to the Edhi morgue following their post-mortem examination at the JPMC.

‘Sectarian’ killing victim buried

The funeral of Ali Hussain alias Khurram was held at Imambargah Shah-i-Karbala in Rizvia Society on Sunday.

He was shot dead in Orangi Town on Saturday in an apparent sectarian attack.

The funeral prayer was held in Rizvia Society on Sunday which was attended by a large number of people.

The body was taken to Wadi-i-Hussain graveyard on Superhighway where the victim was buried.

Young man shot dead

A young man was shot dead in Hijrat Colony on Sunday, police said.

They said armed men parked their motorbike at the corner of a street, walked towards Abdul Qadir, 28, who was sitting outside a relative’s home in Hijrat Colony, fired shots at him and escaped.

The incident took place within the remit of the Jackson police station.

The police said that the victim was a resident of Landhi and might have been killed due to some personal enmity.

The body was taken to the JPMC.

Five ‘rioters’ held

Five men allegedly involved in rioting on Yaum-i-Ishq-i-Rasool were rounded up in early morning raids in Shireen Jinnah Colony, police said.

A senior police officer said the suspects were identified with the help of CCTV footage.

More than 72 suspects were remanded in police custody by an anti-terrorism court and a judicial magistrate on Saturday.
