KARACHI, March 22: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his daughter in Nusrat Bhutto Colony within the remit of the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station on Thursday.

Police said that the incident took place in a shanty settlement apparently after an altercation between Mohammad Rafique and his daughter, Saima, 22. He attacked her with a knife and inflicted wounds on the neck and other parts of her body, they said.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she died during treatment, they added.

Quoting family members, the police said that Saima had got married about a year ago but was divorced recently. She started living with her father.

Rafique, who was stated to be mentally unstable, did not try to flee, said the police.
