KARACHI, Feb 28: Police on Tuesday arrested the father-in-law of a member of the Sindh Assembly in the Keamari area for allegedly interfering in police work by getting released two suspects from police custody.

Sikandar Shah, the father-in-law of MPA Akthar Judoon, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an FIR (145/2012) lodged at the Jackson police station.

The police said that on Saturday night they had arrested two suspects for possessing drugs in the Keamari area. However, Mr Shah intervened in the police work and managed to get released the two suspects, who fled the scene.

The police had registered the case on Saturday night under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 and 225 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the suspect on Tuesday.The MPA was not immediately available for his version.
