LAHORE, Jan 11: Wahdat Colony Station House Officer Yasir Abbas, who had gone missing three days ago, was found with moderate wounds in a plot near Iqbal Town's Moon Market on Wednesday.

Sub-Inspector Abbas was rushed to Jinnah Hospital by a Rescue 1122 ambulance early in the morning. His condition is stated to be stable.

Yasir, who lives in Gulshan-i-Ravi, did not join duty after he was found guilty of embezzling cash and valuables he recovered from a robbers' gang during a departmental inquiry two weeks ago.

He had applied for a medical leave twice till Jan 8.

Interestingly, on Jan 9 his father Ghulam Rasool lodged a missing report with the Gulshan-i-Ravi police that his son Yasir left home for a nearby barber shop and did not return.

The SHO was suspended from service after he failed to join duty on Jan 9.

A police official told Dawn a Rescue 1122 ambulance shifted the unconscious SHO from a plot to the hospital with scar marks on body parts.

He said forensic examination of the victim suggested that he suffered some burns on his body and his hair on head and face were plucl(ed out. The victim also suffered some bruises on his back, he added. He said the police had registered a 1(idnap case against unidentified people and deployed two constables at the hospital.

The official said Yasir was not still in a position to record his statement and the police were awaiting his medical report.

He said the CIA police did not arrest the SHO in connection with the inquiry and it was premature to establish the cause of kidnap. 'It would be clear during the course of investigation whetherYasir tried to escape punishment or he met with some casualty.

Another police official privy to the investigation said Yasir did not submit record of his admission to any hospital or his regular check-up/treatment by doctors.

He said the police were waiting for the victim's statement for further action.

He said Yasir allegedly embezzled cash and valuables he recovered from a gang involved in a robbery at the house of Asif Feroz of Nawab Town some time ago.

After the arrested robbers were handed over to a CIA police team, they disclosed that the SHO and his team had already recovered valuables from them.

An inquiry conducted by Civil Lines SP (Operation) Muhammad Omer Saeed on the orders of his seniors held the SHO guilty of offence.
