KARACHI, Nov 3: A man was shot dead in North Nazimabad within the remit of the Hyderi police station late Wednesday night. The police said that Azadar Husain, 32, son of Azhar Husain, a famous tailor, was on his way home after closing his shop in Nagina Square, Hyderi, when attackers shot him at the Landi Kotal chowrangi.

They said the victim suffered three bullet wounds and died on the spot.

SHO Shoaib Ibrahim said Mr Husain had been running his tailoring business for a long time, adding that a motive behind his murder was yet to be ascertained.

“It may be a result of some personal enmity or mugging,” the SHO said.

Ruling out the possibility of sectarianism being a motive, he argued that the deceased was not an active member of any sectarian organisation. However, he added, a conclusion could be reached only after ascertaining the views of his family members, who were at the moment busy with the funeral.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The victim was unmarried and a resident of Cosmos Place, Block 16, Federal B Area, the police said.

Police registered a case (FIR No 529/2011) against unidentified assailants.

Two shot dead in family feud

Two persons were shot dead in Jam Goth, Malir, within the remit of the Memon Goth police station in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said a man, Fida Husain, 40, along with his friend, Habib Baloch, was sitting in his house when his brother-in-law, Shaukat alias Shoki, came and fired shots.

The police said that Mr Husain suffered three gunshot wounds and died on the spot while Mr Baloch received one bullet in the chest and rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his wounds during treatment, they added.

The police said Shaukat managed to flee.

According to SHO Rao Khalid, initial findings suggested that Mr Husain and Shaukat had a monetary dispute over the last many months.

Mr Husain was the father of three children, he said, adding that the victim was affiliated with the defunct People’s Amn Committee and wanted in more than 30 criminal cases.

Mr Baloch ran a mechanic shop in Jam Goth, the SHO said.

Police have registered case against Shaukat and some of his alleged associates on the complaint of Mr Husain’s widow.
