KARACHI, Oct 26: A bullet-riddled body mistakenly identified as that of a bakery employee on Tuesday was on Wednesday identified as that of an activist of the Sunni Tehrik, who had gone missing some two days back, police said.
They said the body was found in Abyssinia Lines on Tuesday and the police in view of the fact that it had a report regarding disappearance of one Wazir Khan called complainant Sadiq, the owner of a bakery where the missing man worked, who told the police that the body appeared to be that of his employee. DawnBrigade SHO Jehangir Maher told that Ghulam Mohammad, the brother of the missing Wazeer Khan, was also called for identification and he broke into tears without looking at the body properly.
However, in the evening Wazir Khan returned to the bakery and subsequently the unidentified body was shifted again to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification, he added.
On Wednesday, a man, Salman, reached the Brigade police station to lodge a report regarding disappearance of his brother, Sohail alias Sheru, who he said had been missing for the past two days.
The police asked Salman to visit the Edhi morgue where he identified the body as that of his brother, said the area SHO.
He said that a case (FIR 293/2011) was lodged under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the victim's brother.
The deceased, Sohail, was a resident of Lines Area and an activist of the Sunni Tehrik, the police said.
