KARACHI, Sept 2: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Advocate Mohammad Murtaza Chinoy.
The 35-five-year-old advocate was shot dead on Aug 26 in his Zamzama office.
The police claimed that they had arrested three suspects, including two brothers, and recovered the deceased’s laptop and saving certificates worth Rs2 million and a pistol from their possession.
SP Tariq Dharejo claimed that the victim’s peon, Naveed Bhatti, had hatched a plot with the assistance of his friends, who are brothers Sajid and Zahid.
The actual plan was to rob the advocate, but the deceased resisted during which Zahid allegedly opened fire on him, the SP said.
The SP described Zahid as a ‘psychopath’ involved in several other murders and also bore several bullet wounds on his body.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the suspects in Azam Basti in Korangi.
An FIR (202/2011) had been registered against unidentified suspects under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Clifton police station. Police said the suspects arrested on Friday were now nominated in the same FIR.
