Three killed in accident GUJAR KHAN, July 26: Three young men were killed as the car they were traveling in rammed into a roadside tree due to tyre burst near Chakri Wakeelan on Tuesday.

According to the sources, one of the victims, who was later identified as Rashid Khan, died on the spot while Mohsan Shabir and Muhammad Habib Ghori were shifted to the THQ hospital from where they were referred to Rawalpindi hospital in critical condition. However, both the victims breathed their last on their way to Rawalpindi.—Correspondent Man falls in well

CHAKWAL, July 26: A man was killed as he fell into a well, police said on Tuesday. Mohammad Sajjad,32, resident of Lawa village of tehsil Talagang was wandering in the fields along with his friends when he fell into a well.

The villagers pulled his body out of the well after a long struggle.— Correspondent

Three booked for kidnapping

ATTOCK, July 26: Three persons were booked for allegedly kidnapping a married woman from Pirdad village in the limit of Hazro police station.

The sources said on Tuesday that a resident of Pirdad village reported to the police that his married sister went out of the house but could not return. On search, he came to know that his sister was kidnapped by three village fellows.

The complainant also informed the police that his sister’s husband had been abroad for job for the last four years.— Correspondent — another for harassing woman

CHAKWAL, July 26: A man was booked for harassing a woman, police said on Tuesday.

The woman’ SB, told Saddar Police that she was in her parents’ house when a villager KM barged into the house and tried to sexually assault her.When she raised alarm, the accused fled from the scene.The police registered case against the accused.— Correspondent Photo exhibition RAWALPINDI, July 26: A photo exhibition – Spirit of Peace – to commemorate 50 years of Pakistan’s contribution to UN peacekeeping mission will be held at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on July 28.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will inaugurate the exhibition,  which will continue till July 31, according to a press release.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by representatives of the armed forces, police, diplomats, former officials who had served in peacekeeping missions and UN officials.

It will also be attended by injured soldiers, next of kin of those who lives while serving in the UN peacekeeping missions and youth from Balochistan and Fata.

The United Nations Peacekeeping Department is sending a special representative from New York to attend the exhibition.

Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Pakistan’s permanent envoy to UN, will also be present.

Drug peddler jailed

CHAKWAL, July 26: The additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday sentenced a drug peddler to two-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on him.

According to details, Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Pind Dadan Khan was arrested by Saddar police a few months ago on the charges of possessing 2kg hashish.

On Tuesday, after finding all the allegations true Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Asghar awarded him the punishment. The culprit would have to spend three month more in jail if he had failed to pay the fine.— Correspondent Three butchers held TAXILA, July 26: Three butchers were arrested on Tuesday for slaughtering sick animals.

Veterinary Health Officer Dr Mohammad Yameen raided various markets of the city and registered cases against Mazhar Hussain, Mazhar Noor and Bashrat Latif.The officer said the butchers were also injecting meat with water to increase its weight. He said it makes meat unhygienic and injurious to health.— Correspondent Shop looted

TAXILA, July 26: Three armed men deprived a shopkeeper of Rs36,000 on Tuesday.

Samiulllah told police that the three men entered the shop as customers but took guns and fled with Rs36,000, his mobile phone and other valuables. A case was registered against the robbers.— Correspondent

ATTOCK, July 26: A car was lifted from the district courts area on Tuesday. The sources said that Malik Noor Zaman, resident of Hazro reported to the city police station that he had parked his car (IDN-4155) outside district courts a few yards away from the district police headquarters and the city Police station.

When he returned, he found his car missing.The police registered a case and started investigation.—Correspondent Passengers left in a quandary

GUJAR KHAN, July 26: The Railway authorities on Tuesday left the passengers in a quandary when they cancelled the bookings of 112 seats of lower AC, parlour and AC deluxe in the Railcar to Lahore from Rawalpindi and offered them the economy class seats instead.

The insiders in the Pakistan Railways requesting anonymity told this reporter that the power plant to run the air conditioning system of the Railcar was attached to non-stop train in which the general manager and inspector general of the railway police were scheduled to travel to Lahore.With the refund of the reservations, the Pakistan Railways, according to the sources, incurred Rs150,000 loss while the inconvenience faced by the ticket holders was never considered by the authorities.— Correspondent
