ISLAMABAD, June 11: An American who was arrested by the Golra police the other day was shifted to Adiala Jail on 14 days judicial remand on Saturday.

Mathew Craig Barrott was produced before Civil Judge Kashif Qayyum Shaikh. The Jhang Badhur police in Fatehjhang also appeared in the court and said they had booked the American on May 14 on charges of PPCs 123 (concealing with intent to facilitate design to wage war) and 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions).

They informed the court that the American was spotted in the high security zone where civilians and police were not allowed. The security forces took him into custody and during search recovered photographs and maps from his possession.

The father-in-law of the American, Advocate Abdul Rehman, pleaded that he be provided justice. When the court asked about the profession and nature of business of the American, he replied that neither he nor his wife was engaged in any business. Later, the judge sent the accused to Adiala Jail on judicial remand. On his way to the police vehicle outside
