KOHAT, May 31: A man on Tuesday allegedly burnt to death his wife after having a brawl with her in Mir Ahmed Khan here and fled.

The police said Fayyaz who was married to Madeeha two years back had very tense relation with his wife and used to beat her.

On Tuesday he sprinkled kerosene oil on her and burnt her to death. He tried to burry her without post mortem but his in-laws got suspicious and took the body to hospital for autopsy. Doctors confirmed that she had been burnt to death and had not died a natural death. The police registered murder case against Fayyaz and launched investigations.

GRENADE ATTACK:

Seven members of a family were injured when hand grenades were hurled at their house in Muhammadzai village on Tuesday.

One of the injured reported to the police they were sitting in their house, owned by Libas Khan, when three hand grenades landed inside the house.

Only one grenade exploded which injured seven persons including two women, Ishrat Begum, Amna Bibi and a minor Iqraa. They were rushed to the women and children hospital where their condition was out of danger. The cantt police registered case against the accused namely Khanan Din and Lal Badshah.

LAWYERS ROLE:

The commissioner Kohat division has called on the lawyers to guide the administration for solution of the peoples' problems because they are in close contact with them and know their sufferings better.

The commissioner, Sahibzada Anees, while addressing lawyers at the bar room of the district courts on Tuesday appreciated their role in restoring independent judiciary and asked them to mitigate the legal and other sufferings of the people. He also announced Rs100,000 as special grant for the bar. — Correspondent
