CHAKWAL, May 4: Another man has been missing from Chakwal for the last 26 days, sources told Dawn on Wednesday.

Earlier on February 28, Dr Jamshed was kidnapped from Talagang and has not been recovered as yet.

Mohammad Zameer Lodhi, 35, a resident of Sargojra locality of Chakwal city has been missing since April 8.

Mr Lodhi ran a grocery shop in the city. On April 8, he went to his shop but did not return to his home. “Neither we have no enmity with anyone nor are we a rich family,” Altaf Hussain the cousin of Zameer told Dawn. He said Zameer was not a radical Muslim though he offered his prayers regularly.

Altaf further said that when the shop was checked on the night of April 8, all things were in order. “Even an amount of Rs40,000 in cash was lying sound and safe in the drawer,” he maintains. He said Zameer was not kidnapped for ransom as even after 26 days they did not receive any call for ransom.

Zameer has three little children and a wife who are spending sleepless nights.

“The whole family is caught in distress,” Altaf said. He said that an FIR was registered with the City Police Station on April 15 but police were still clueless.

When contacted, Investigation Officer Kazim said that police were investigating from different angles. “We are gathering phone records and other relevant information,” the IO says. He said that neither the relatives of Zameer expressed doubts against anyone nor could police get any clue. “We are trying our best to trace the missing man,” he maintained.
