LARKANA, March 29: Nephew of veteran communist leader Sobho Gianchandani, along with his friend Rafiq Chandio, has been kidnapped.
Both Dileep and Rafiq Chandio, residents of Dari Mohalla, and insurance agents by profession, had left for Garhi Khairo on Thursday last to sell a policy, said Bachal Das, brother-in-law of Dileep Kumar. Neither they reached Garhi Khairo nor returned home.
Dileep's cell phone was found switched-off when his wife and other relatives tried to contact him, said Mr Das. On Tuesday, relatives of Rafiq Chandio received a phone call from his captors who seeking ransom money for his release. They also asked them to convey a similar message to family of Dileep.
Bachal Das said that the callers did not identify themselves and simply asked for arranging ransom without mentioning the figure.
“We have informed the district police officer (DPO) of Larkana,” he said and added, that the callers contacted us twice at 12.00 noon and 4pm saying that they would again contact them, Bachal Das said.
“We met Deputy-Inspector General of Larkana range Din Mohammed Baloch on Monday who assured us of recovering Dileep and his friend,'' he said.
The DPO, however, told them on Monday that they had gone missing from another district and police were trying to trace them, he said.
