KOHAT, March 23: Six policemen, including a station house officer, were injured in a bomb attack on mobile van of Doaba police station in Darsamand area of Hangu on Wednesday morning.
Officials said that the attackers also opened firing on the van after it was hit by the improvised explosive device. They said that police retaliated the firing, but the attackers disappeared in the nearby mountains.The injured policemen included SHO Haleem Khan, ASI Shafi Khan, constables Samiullah, Sher Muhammad and Naqeebullah and ex-serviceman of police Shaukat Hayat.
The sources said that the Frontier Constabulary and police teams had started a search operation in the area, but no arrests were reported till late night. They said that officials of Doaba police were coming back after checking a CD shop, which was blown up by militants in Warai area on Tuesday night. They said that another police vehicle going ahead of the mobile van escaped the attack.
ROCKET ATTACK: A rocket fired by militants from the tribal area partially damaged the roof of a quarter in an army compound in Kohat cantonment on Wednesday. However, there was no casualty.
Sources said that militants fired two rockets from Ublan Darra area, but one hit the ground of Pathan Centre and did not explode.
The bomb disposal squad said that the 107mm rocket that landed in the MP headquarters was half exploded and smoke was billowing from it for over an hour.
FAKE DEGREES SEIZED IN DARRA: The political administration of Frontier Region, Kohat, on Wednesday seized fake educational certificates of foreign countries and the machinery used in their preparation in a raid in Darra Adamkhel bazaar.
Talking to this correspondent, assistant political agent Gul Jamal said that they had arrested the leader of the gang, which was involved in preparation of counterfeit documents, official stamps, chassis numbers, computerised identity cards and driving and arms licences.
Mr Jamal said that certificates and degrees of educational institutions of Russia and Afghanistan were also recovered from the shop.
Officials said that the gang leader, Iman Gul, told the interrogators that they had buyers of fake documents all over the country. The raiding party also impounded machines, CDs and computers used in the making of fake documents and sent the accused to the district prison under the Frontier Crimes Regulations.
The trial of Iman Gul will now be conducted by the assistant political agent for punishment otherwise the matter would be closed on the request and fine offered by the elders of his tribe.
Shops dealing in fake documents can be easily found at several places in Darra Adamkhel. Moreover, over 900 small workshops and factories of arms and ammunition were also operating despite military operation in the region since 2007.
