Three houses looted

RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: Armed men looted three homes in the city on Thursday and took away more than Rs1 million, gold jewellery and other valuables.

Two gunmen entered the house of Mohammad Shabbir in Afshan Colony and held his family at gunpoint. The robbers took away Rs1 million, gold ornaments and two cellphones and escaped after locking the family inside a room.

Adil Farooq, who lives in Sher Zaman Colony, told police that four armed men entered his house and took away gold jewellery weighing more than 40 tolas, Rs60,000 and four cellphones. The estimated value of gold ornaments was Rs1.6 million.

Major Syed Nayyer Abbas told the New Town police that two gunmen snatched six gold rings, two necklaces valuing Rs200,000 and a cellphone from his wife.— Staff Reporter
