ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: A gang of robbers looted Rs6 millions from a bank and also took away the recording of CCTV cameras on Tuesday, police said.

First two men armed with sophisticated weapons entered Habib Bank branch, located in capital's rural area of Mora Nagial, Soan Camp in Sihala and took two security guards of the bank hostage.

After getting clearance from their accomplices, the remaining three culprits entered the bank and held 11 persons – seven bankers and four clients – at gunpoint. The robbers forcibly collected Rs6 million from the cash counter and bank's safe.

They retrieved the recording of CCTV from the system, besides breaking six cameras installed inside and outside the bank. Later the robbers escaped from the bank along with the booty, the recording and the cameras.

Shortly after getting the information the police reached the spot and started collecting the evidence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the culprits had fair complexion and were Pashtoon. They were wearing shalwar qamees, and Pakistan Army camouflage jacket and caps. Two robbers were clean shaved. Sub-divisional Police Officer, DSP Sardar Babar Mumtaz and SHO Sihala interrogated the bank officials in the presence of SSP Tahir Alam Khan, who also visited the crime scene.
