NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Dec 25: A senior investigation officer (SIO) was killed during a scuffle when he went to arrest some accused near Bhirya city on Saturday.
The SIO of Farid Dero police, Roshan Ali Khokhar, had received information that accused Mohammad Hassan and his brother Nawab Memon, residents of Bhirya city, were present in an olive orchard of Syed Ihtesham Shah. They were nominated in an FIR registered by one Zafar Jatoi under Section 489-F PPC.The SIO and other police officials reached the spot to arrest the accused, but a scuffle broke out between the accused and 10 labourers there, in which the SIO received a lathi blow on his head. He fell and died.
DPO of Naushahro Feroze Farooq Ahmed Jamali confirmed the incident, saying that police were after the accused who were also wanted in some other cases lodged at different police stations.
Sources said that some of the labourers involved in the incident had been arrested by Bhirya city police.
