GUJRANWALA, Jan 28: District and Sessions Judge Iftikhar Husain Shah on Wednesday ordered a judicial probe into the killing of Faiz Rasool alias Nannu Goraya and his two men in a police encounter and appointed judicial magistrate Muhammad Aslam as inquiry officer.

Reports said Nannu Goraya of Bhopran Kalan (Naushehra Virkan) was wanted to police in many cases of kidnap for ransom, extortion, murder and robbery for the last many years. During police crackdown, he went abroad, stayed in Dubai and later shifted to some far-flung area of Malaysia. He was arrested from there with the help of Interpol.

Police said he was being taken to arrest his accomplices when his men attacked a police party near Bhadey village. In retaliation, he and his men were killed.

ARRESTED: Four people, including a union council nazim and an assistant sub-inspector, were arrested from district courts on Wednesday when police recovered kalashnikovs and other arms from their vehicle.

Reports said accused involved in the murder case of six people of Lohianwala were brought to anti-terrorism court No. 1 from jail for the hearing of the case while ASI Arshad and three other people, including UC nazim Mujahid accompanied them in the vehicle. During a search, the police recovered two kalashnikovs and as many pistols from them and arrested them. Investigation is under way.

FIA POLICE STATION: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has established its police station in Gujrat following appointment of five inspectors and 10 constables and issued a notification to the effect. FIA director Azam Joya will inaugurate the police station on Thursday (today).

The police station will have jurisdiction over Gujrat, Kharian, Phalia and Mandi Bahauddin areas.

Meanwhile, the agency on Thursday claimed to have arrested two more human traffickers Rao Shakeel and Rao Wakeel, (brothers) from Naushehra Virkan during a raid and recovered documents and passports from their possession. They were wanted in a dozen cases of human smuggling.

Demo: Scores of people held a demonstration on Wednesday outside the office of the SNGPL on Sui Gas Road against inflated bills.

Reports said a number of small consumers received heavy bills ranging from Rs3,000 to Rs6,000 for December 2008 and they were to make payment by the end of this month.

They gathered outside the regional office of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and chanted slogans against senior officers of the company. They demanded withdrawal of the bills and issuance of new ones.
