KARACHI: First batch Completes training in child care

KARACHI, Oct 3: The first batch of a child care programme has completed its training under a scheme of the annual development programme 2007-08.
The Baby Child Care training programme has been initiated in all districts of Sindh. At four of its centres, including two in Karachi and one each in Hyderabad and Jamshoro, the training has been completed.
The programme is expected to cost about Rs62.234 million and 90 per cent of the amount earmarked in the financial year 2007-08 has been released. The project is part of the ADP schemes being implemented with an estimated cost of over Rs687.65 million.
Inherited from the ADP 2006-07, the establishment of sales and display resource centre was expected to cost Rs14 million. Eighty five per cent of the allocation had been released till June for this project.Other schemes include setting up of a media cell in the directorate of women development, women complaint cells, gender reforms action plan, and a training institute for women in Nawabshah.
For setting up of the media cell in the directorate of women development, 83 per cent of Rs30million allocation had been released till June.
The establishment of complaint cells for aid to women in distress was expected to cost Rs9.088 million. However, only 37 per cent funds had been released till June for the project.
