KARACHI: Eight killed in accidents

KARACHI, Oct 3: Eight men have died in road accidents in different parts of the city over the Eid holidays.

Four of the six victims were riding a motorcycle when they met with an accident.

Police said that two young men were riding motorcycle on the Northern Bypass when it slipped. They suffered serious injuries that later proved fatal. The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

In Defence, 15-year-old Osama and his friend Asher, 14, died as their motorcycle slipped and rammed into a pavement on Eid day. Both the youngsters suffered head injuries that caused their instant death. The bodies were taken to the JPMC for legal formalities.

Police said the victims were residents of Korangi.

Similarly, two other persons died in separate accidents in the limits of Mauripur and Kalri police stations. The victims were later identified as Rizwan, 20, and Gul Rehman, 21.

A mob set a bus on fire to give vent to their anger after a vehicle knocked down a motorcyclist to death and sped away, APP adds.

Thirty-year-old Bilal was killed in a hit-and-run accident in front of the Landhi police station on Thursday evening. The body was shifted to the JPMC.

Following the accident, area youth gathered on the road and set the passenger bus on fire in protest. Police brought the situation under control.

A Karachi-bound train crushed an elderly man near Landhi railway station, witnesses said.

The pedestrian was crossing the railway line when he was hit by Karakorram Express, which was coming from Lahore. The body was shifted to the JPMC by Edhi ambulance.

Injured

A young couple was critically injured as their motorbike slipped near Defence Library.

Hospital sources said that 20-year-old Perveen was brought to the JPMC in an unconscious condition. Doctors were trying to save her life while her husband who also received serious injuries in the accident was stated to be stable.

Lal Mohammad and his father, Fateh, were injured when their motorcycle slipped on Burns Road. They were taken to the Civil Hospital.
