Published April 27, 2008

KARACHI, April 26: District and sessions judge (Central) Sofia Latif on Saturday issued a notice to the special public prosecutor for May 17 in an appeal filed by one of the accused in the Justice Nizam murder case.

Justice Nizam Ahmed was killed along with his son, Nadeem Ahmed, soon after they left for their office in June 1996. The attack was attributed to a property case.

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Bilal Shaikh, Javed Akhtar Pirzada and Baber Sindhu were nominated as accused in the case.

Counsel for Baber Sindhu on Saturday submitted to the court that since Mr Zardari had been acquitted in the case, his client should also be exonerated.—APP
