KARACHI, April 22: The city nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, on Tuesday inaugurated the installation of generators at the city’s five pumping stations.

Talking to journalists after the inaugural ceremony, he said these steps had been taken to make the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s (KWSB) pumping stations independent of the KESC’s network.

“This way the KWSB will have a minimum possible dependence on the KESC for water supply and sewerage disposal. Apart from these five, arrangements for the installation of generators at two more pumping stations are almost complete”, he said.

The five pumping stations where the installation of generators was inaugurated were Ship Owners’ College Pump House (350kVA), Five-star Chowrangi Pump House (350 kVA), Pahar Ganj Pump House (350 kVA), Khwaja Ajmer Nagri Pump House (1,275kVA) and 5C-4 Pump House (1,275kVA).

The nazim said that a 350-kVA generator at German School Pumping House, Orangi, a 1,275-kVA generator at Sakhi Hasan Pumping Station, North Karachi would also start working soon.—APP
