Members of auto industry body named

RAWALPINDI, Dec 27: The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has announced the nomination of 12 private members of Auto Industry Development Committee (AIDC) through a circular issued on Thursday.

The ECC in its meeting last month had approved the establishment of the committee.

The CEO of EDB will act as chairman of the committee. It has been authorised to initiate deliberations and to adopt necessary measures and recommendations to encourage further indigenisation, discourage rollback and to achieve the objectives of AIDP.

Twelve members will be taken from the private sector and the rest will represent various government departments.

The members include Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director, Pak Suzuki, as representative of car assemblers; Mr Saquib H. Sherazi, CEO, Atlas Honda as representative of Japanese two and three-wheeler assemblers; Mr Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmed, Chairman, Association of Pakistan Motorcycle Assemblers (APMA), as representative of Chinese two and three wheeler assemblers; Sikander Mustafa Khan, Chairman, Millat Tractors Ltd, as representative of tractor assemblers; Fasihul Karim Siddiqi, Director, Hino-Pak, as representative from truck and bus sector; Naveed Hamid, Director, Center for Research in Economics and Business, Lahore School of Economics, as private sector economist; Zaheeruddin Dar, CEO, Development Analysis Research Team as Expert from private sector; Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, CEO, Yusuf Industries Agri (Pvt) Ltd, as vendor of sheet metal; Mr Shariq Suhail, CEO, Rubatech Manufacturing Company, as vendor of plastic and rubber; Imtiaz Rastgar, CEO, Rastgar Engineering, as vendor of casting, forging and machining; Mohsin Syed, Managing Director, Hybrid Technics (Pvt) Ltd, as vendor electrical and electronics; and Sohail P. Ahmed, CEO, Thal Engineering Ltd, as representative of auto industry skill development.
