BAHAWALPUR, Dec 13: Lawyers have warned that their colleagues appearing before the judges of the Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur bench, appointed under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO) will be taken to task from Friday (today).

A decision to this effect was taken in the general council meeting of the District Bar Association on Thursday. Bar president Yahya Khan presided over the meeting.

According to the decision, lawyers will block the way to the court on the high court’s premises and the lawyers trying to violate lawyers’ boycott of PCO judges would be humiliated and their faces would be blacked with dirt and paint. Yahya said the district bar was forced to take the decision after reports that some lawyers had appeared before the PCO judge in the past days.

The lawyers also took out a rally, holding placards and raising slogans for the reinstatement of judges sacked on Nov 3. Police did not stop the rally even though it was in violation of Section 144.

WITHDRAWN: All candidates of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) withdrew their nomination papers. JI leaders, including Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, took out a motorcycle and car rally, which paraded the main roads of the city. Later, they drove to the offices of returning officers and withdrew their papers.
