PESHAWAR, Nov 28: The nomination papers of a candidate were rejected as the returning officer continued scrutiny of papers for four National Assembly and 11 provincial assembly seats from Peshawar on Wednesday.

Around 275 candidates have filed papers for both national and provincial assemblies.

The nomination papers of Qari Tahir Zaman for the PF-11 constituency were rejected by Returning Officer Mohammad Qasim on the grounds that he was below 25 —the minimum age required for contesting general elections under rules.

The scrutiny of papers will continue till Dec 3. Appeals against the decisions of returning officers can be filed till Dec 7.

For the four National Assembly seats, 65 candidates have filed their nomination papers. Similarly, 210 candidates have filed papers for the 11 provincial assembly seats.

The highest number of papers — 33 — has been filed for the PF-5 constituency.
