Viscose fibre exempted from FED

ISLAMABAD, July 10: The government has exempted viscose staple fibre from federal excise duty (FED) till October 15, 2007.

The decision was announced through a notification SRO 677 issued on Tuesday.

According to the notification, the FED has been waived on viscose fibre and this exemption shall be available during the period under review and this notification shall stand rescinded from the budget date.

The government had imposed 10 per cent excise duty on the import of viscose staple fibre in the budget to protect the local manufacturers.
