ISLAMABAD, May 31: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) collected Rs719.6 billion during the 11 months (July-May) of the this fiscal year as against Rs610.6 billion the same period last year, showing a cumulative growth of 17.9 per cent.
Official provisional figures released here on Thursday by the CBR showed that excluding customs duty all other three federal levies recorded a growth during the period under review.
The revenue collection on account of direct taxes recorded an increase of 48.3 per cent to Rs269.8 billion during the period under review as against Rs181.9 billion last year.
The sales tax collection reached Rs274.7bn during the period as against Rs259.1 billion, indicating a growth of 5.9pc. Whereas the growth in collection at import stage had been 3.7 per cent and the domestic sales tax collection rose by 9 per cent.
The tax receipts on account of excise duties recorded an increase of 19.5 per cent as the collection reached Rs61.6 billion during the July-May period as against Rs51.6 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Revenue from customs duties however decreased by 3.5 per cent to Rs113.9 billion during the period under review as against Rs118.0 billion last year.
