KARACHI, May 23: Brisk berthing activity was witnessed at the port where five ships carrying containers, general cargo, edible oil and chemicals were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two more container ships also arrived at the outer anchorage. Eleven ships, CMA CGM Aegean, Maersk Virginia, Saris Ka, Nedlloyed Asia, Tarpon Santiago, Sargodha, Bernice, Marlene Green, Shintoku, Regent and Chemstar Ace, were busy in loading/offloading containers, wheat, rice, cement, general cargo, edible oil, crude oil and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 91,355 tons comprising 65,158 tons of import and 26,197 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailings were brisk as CMA CGM Aegean, Maersk Virginia, Nedlloyed Asia, Tarpon Santiago, Chemstar Ace and Bunga Melati-4 left the port.
