KARACHI: Condolence meeting

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 3: A meeting was held at a local hotel on Thursday to condole the death of three prominent literary figures of Sindh, MH Panhwar, Anwer Pirzado and Hussain Shah Rashdi.

It was organised by the Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair of the University of Karachi, which was presided over by KU vice- chancellor Pirzada Qasim.

The speakers included Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Dr Ghulam Ali Allana, Sirajul Haq Memon, Dr Suleman Shaikh, Dr Fahmida Hussain, Sultana Waqasi, Moinuddin, Syed Mazhar Jameel, Saleem Memon and Zarar Pirzado.

They termed the death of the trio a great loss to Sindh. The three men, they said, had contributed a great deal in the fields of literature, research, history, irrigation and politics etc.

They said their death had left a great challenge to the younger generation to further the works what they had left incomplete.

“All the personalities we are talking about had worked in more than one field thus their death has created a vacuum which is hard to fill,” Dr Pirzada said.
