LAHORE, April 19: Wapda’s power generation improved by 1000mw on Thursday after the provinces released more water from both the major dams.

The difference between supply and demand, according to the authority, is now 500mw only.

Wapda’s peak hour power generation from Tarbella-GBHP combine went up to 4,000mw, which had dipped to 1,600mw when provinces had squeezed supplies.

“The enhanced releases from Tarbella are being utilised to the maximum,” says Wapda Member (Power) Mr Fazal Ahmad. “During the day, when demand drops down to around 10,000mw, the authority releases only 40,000 cusecs and during peak hours the releases are increased to 60,000 cusecs. This water manipulation has helped the authority bring down power deficit to 500mw,” he said.
