KARACHI, April 17: The SSC examinations in city started on Tuesday in a peaceful manner as no major irregularity was reported from any examination center in the city.

However, a large number of candidates suffered at the hands of the KESC while attempting their papers when the power utility enforced its load-shedding programme across the city during the examination time, besides its day and night schedule.

As many as 150,000 candidates are appearing in the examinations for which 415 centres have been set up in the city.

Vigilance teams constituted by the Board of Secondary Education visited different examination centres to check use of unfair means by the candidates.

The vigilance teams seized cellphones kept by some candidates, an official of the Board said.

As announced earlier, the SSC Part-I examinations will start on May 15.

In the Science group, 103,300 students will appear in the examinations while in the General group, 32,000 regular and 6,480 private students are appearing in the examinations.

The Board has constituted 75 vigilance teams, In addition to 10 super-vigilance teams, to check unfair means.
