KARACHI, April 9: Three children were kidnapped for ransom in union council Metroville, Site Town, alone in two months. Families of the victims have provided Capital Police Liaison Committee and AVCC the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the kidnapers, besides lodging FIR with the Site police, but no arrests have been made so far.
They have also appealed to the governor and chief minister of Sindh and nazim of Karachi, as well as top police officials for help, pointing out that parents are now scared to send their children even to their school.
The two boys, Hashim s/o Aslam Khan and Kareemullah s/o Attaullah, were kidnapped in February this year. Their parents were made to pay Rs1.2 million and Rs0.7million, respectively, to the kidnappers for their release 12 days after they were kidnapped.
Another boy, Habibullah s/o Sherzaman, was kidnapped on March 26 and his parents had to pay Rs1million to his kidnapers.
The increasing incidents of kidnappings for ransom provoked a demonstration by people of the town at Banaras Chowk on March 6.
The participants urged the government to ensure protection against kidnappings and arrest of kidnappers.—PPI
