KARACHI, April 9: The Nazrul Academy is playing an important role in imparting knowledge through its library, which is equipped with a large number of books on different subjects, especially in the Bangla language.

This was stated by the officials of the London-based Commonwealth Parliamentary Secretariat, who visited Nazrul Academy on Monday.

Mahboobbul Alam and Nilofer of the CPS recorded their comments on the visitors' book placed at the Nazrul Academy. They appreciated the library for catering to the needs of the readers of Bangla and literature in Pakistan in general.

CPS officials praised the contribution of the late Mahmood Ali to reviving the academy in Pakistan, and hoped that it would continue to make valuable contribution to popularising Bangla in the country. They also lauded the government of Pakistan for providing accommodation for the Nazrul Academy.

They said the academy would emerge as a centre of excellence under the leadership of its present head, Ra'ana Dilruba Yasmeen, a prominent literary figure of Bangla, Urdu and English.—PPI
