KARACHI: Encroachments removed

KARACHI, April 9: A large number of encroachments, which had appeared since construction began on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town, were removed in an operation carried out under the supervision of Town Nazim Wasay Jalil.

The staff of Land Department, accompanied by police, removed the encroachments of motor mechanic workshops from footpaths.

The town nazim directed the sealing of a cylinder shop and asked police to take action, as it is not permitted to operate a cylinder shop in a residential area.

He also directed the removal of flags and banners of political and religious organisations from poles of street lights and said it mars the beauty of the town.

The police were directed not to allow the re-emergence of encroachments.

He said that this road was constructed with millions of rupees in order to provide relief to people, but it has been defaced by encroachments on one hand, while on the other it is perturbing residents and causing disturbance in traffic flow.

Meanwhile in Saddar Town, a large number of encroachments were removed from Rabson Road, Dopatta Gali, Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road, Mansfield Street and Preedy Street during an ongoing anti-encroachment drive started on the directive of Town Nazim Dilawar Khan. Anti-encroachment action was also taken at Regal Chowk.

FUMIGATION: The fumigation drive in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town will be carried out in all union councils as per schedule, said UC 2 Nazim Salahuddin and DTO Solid Waste Nafees Khan, while inaugurating the campaign from Women Park at UC 2 here on Monday.

They said the town administration was striving to ensure provision of all basic facilities to citizens without any discrimination. The spray will be carried out between Asr and Maghrib prayers, they added.—APP/PPI
